PA Pre-K Counts is a grant-funded preschool program established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to increase access to quality pre-kindergarten opportunities across the Commonwealth.

The program is based on research-backed educational standards that promote school readiness and long-term academic success.

Families benefit from access to quality preschool programs delivered in partnership with schools, childcare centers, nursery schools, and early childhood education providers.

    • Build confidence and independence

    • Learn through hands-on exploration

    • Strengthen social and emotional development

    • Develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

    • Prepare for a successful transition to kindergarten

  • Benefits of Early Childhood Education

Research continues to show that children who participate in high-quality preschool programs are better prepared for success in school and later in life.

    Early learning experiences help children:

    • Develop strong communication skills

    • Build positive relationships with peers and teachers

    • Strengthen early math and reading skills

    • Improve classroom readiness

    • Gain confidence in new learning environments

By investing in early education today, we help build brighter futures for children tomorrow.
